I’m excited to introduce you to my friend, Charlene G. Chubbs. Our paths crossed over a decade ago and I appreciate the inspiring energy she brings to life. In this episode, we go behind the scenes as Charlene shares her journey of personal growth, balancing multiple roles and the habits that have helped her to level up her life. Whether it’s pursuing a Master’s degree in leadership to teaching yoga, to challenging herself to run a marathon, Charlene shares her story of personal growth.
Episode Summary
Prioritizing what’s on the now list to what will happen when the time is right. Charlene discusses her transition to an empty nest and balancing the many roles of life. Whether it’s teaching a yoga class, leading a team or challenging herself to learn French, Charlene shares her experiences and lessons learned on the journey. We delve into her longtime passion for yoga, which began during her university days, and touch on the importance of breathwork, the challenges of maintaining a fitness routine, and the mental strategies she uses to stay motivated.
Key Topics: -Transitioning to an Empty Nest: Charlene shares her experience of adjusting to life without her children at home and how it has allowed her to focus on personal growth and revisit different things on her list.
- Balancing Multiple Roles: Insights into how Charlene manages her responsibilities at work and as a yoga teacher while pursuing further education and personal goals.
- Passion for Yoga: We explore the origin of Charlene's interest in yoga, how it has been a constant in her life, and her journey to becoming a yoga teacher. We also discuss why it’s called yoga “practice”.
- Fitness and Running: We discuss Charlene's training strategies for a half marathon, as well as, the mental strategies she uses to push through challenging moments. Because we know there will be challenging moments.

My favourite quotation in part 1:

Slaying the Dragons Within with Guest Sid Clevinger (Episode 24 Part 2)
In this episode of the Mind Game podcast, we continue our conversation with Sid Clevinger, co-founder of the Cycle Breaker Society and the brand new Cycle Breaker Show podcast. We go behind the scenes focusing on transformation and overcoming limiting beliefs, referred to as 'dragons'. Sid speaks about the importance of recognizing and taming these inner dragons rather than attempting to 'slay' them outright, emphasizing skill development for managing challenges. The discussion delves into the significance of embracing life's journey, appreciating the steps towards self-improvement, and breaking cycles of negative beliefs to level up one's life.
Sid reflects on his personal journey of breaking stress addiction, as well as, his mental health struggles, highlighting the vital lessons learned.
Key topics include the distinction between knowledge and wisdom, the power of maintaining a sense of adventure, and the benefits of being present and grateful.
This episode also touches on the potential of mentorship and personal growth, offering insight into the Cycle Breaker Society's methods for aiding individuals through the 'Rapid Rewire System' and the 'Seven Day Nervous System Reset program.
Sid reminds us to reconnect with nature, embrace life's experiences, and continue to build your tool box of strategies to tame our inner 'dragons' so we can move forward.
Remember, as Sid pointed out, the moment you realize you can walk into the world fully aware of the challenges that exist, yet stay focused on your mission because you know you’ve done the work to break the cycle of limiting beliefs – the dragons may come but they will not stop you. That is the moment you walk through the door and create the life of your dreams.

From Freeze to Freedom – Breaking the Cycle to Level Up
In this episode of the Mind Game, we go behind the scenes with Sid Clevinger, co-founder of Cycle Breaker Society, as he shares his transformative journey of breaking free from past traumas, pursuing dreams, and leveling up one’s life. Sid's wisdom offers authentic strategies for personal growth, pursuing dreams, building self-confidence, and fostering a supportive environment.
We delve into Sid's experiences of recognizing and breaking cycles from childhood wounds, taking actionable steps towards manifesting goals, overcoming addictions like stress and materialism, and measuring progress against one's own past. Sid emphasizes the importance of having a strong support system, like his wife Tiffany (whom we met in episodes 19 and 20), who helped him recognize signs of depression and take steps to reclaim his health.
Key Takeaways:
- Recognizing and breaking cycles from childhood wounds and past blocks is crucial for personal growth.
- Pursuing dreams requires specific, actionable steps towards manifestation, like Sid and Tiffany building their healing ranch.
- Overcoming addictions to stress, materialism, and numbing substances is part of the journey to find emotional fulfillment.
- Building self-confidence comes from measuring progress against your own past, not comparing to others' curated lives on social media.
- Having a strong support system that genuinely cares about your well-being is vital for breaking negative patterns.
- Signs of being stuck include making excuses, self-isolating, and disrupting routines; creating routines and surrounding yourself with the right people can help.
- Connecting with nature, movement, and recognizing the positive supports around you can aid in elevating emotional states.

Mind Game Level Up Your Life May 12, 2024

Sunday May 05, 2024
In this episode of the Mind Game podcast, we dig into the lessons of David Goggins and his book “Never Finished” and touch on Jim Kwik’s book “Limitless”. Join us as we delve into the mindset shifts and practical strategies that can help you overcome challenges and achieve your goals.
We explore adaptability and persistence considering the importance of constantly readjusting and recalibrating to achieve personal growth. We shift our perspective to understand the value of perseverance, even when plans don't go as expected. And we learn that the level-up is only reached by going through the challenge, not around it. We consider Self-talk and Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs) recognizing the impact of automatic negative thoughts on limiting your potential. We look at how Goggins repurposes negative self-talk to overcome mental barriers. We pause to appreciate that the most important conversations you'll ever have are the ones you have with yourself.Incremental Progress is still progress and cultivating the mindset of "one more step" to keep moving forward, even in the face of adversity. It’s not the giant steps you take it’s the consistent small steps that lead to significant achievements over time.
As Roosevelt shared years ago and Brene Brown has reminded us more recently, the credit belongs to the person in the arena. The one committed to daring greatly. To take action. Goggins reinforces that it’s the valiance of the attempt not always the outcome. Shifting your focus from outcomes to the effort and determination put into pursuing your goals enables you to appreciate the process and the journey, rather than seeking external validation. We pause for a quick consideration of my current listen – Jim Kwik’s book “Limitless” and recognize the importance of continuous learning for personal growth and realize that growth includes brain health, nutrition, hydration, sleep and more. To be resilient your body and mind need nourishment.
Transformation lies in the decision to begin to step into the level-up. As the lessons from Goggins and Kwik remind us embracing adaptability, shifting your mindset, and prioritizing continuous learning, you can level up your life and achieve your goals. Remember, greatness is not tied to outcomes but to the valiance of your attempt. Keep pushing forward, one step at a time, and transformation will come to you.
You are who you’ve been waiting for.
